Tony Lamar Andrews, 83, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Vernon Cemetery. Rev. Sherry Blocker will officiate. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.
Born on October 18, 1939, in Haines City, FL., Tony was the loving son of James Taylor and Fannie Lorrine (Sears) Andrews. He was united in marriage to Emma Carr on December 4, 2004. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2018.
Tony graduated from Haines City High School in Florida. He went on to serve his country proudly in the Army until being Honorably Discharged in 1960. He worked for 25 years at a Phosphate Mine in Mulberry, FL. After moving to North Vernon, he had worked for Lowe’s in Columbus. Tony had been a minister for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Most of all, Tony cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Tony is survived by brother, Michael Louis Andrews of Georgia; sister, Janice Pearl Baker of Haines City, FL.; step sons, Thomas (Erika) Acton of Vallonia, and Gary (Amy) Acton of Columbus; grandchildren, Alyssa, Trinity, Abigail, Nathaniel, Emalee, and Piper Acton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Fannie Andrews; his first wife, Margie Andrews; his second wife, Emma Andrews; brothers, Robert, Jimmy, and Emmitt Andrews.
