Ruby Louise Gibson, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at St. Vincent Jennings County Hospital.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Bethel Baptist Church, Bro. Ricky Persons and Bro. Tim Shirley will be officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the start of the service on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Bethel Baptist Church. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.
Born August 4, 1933, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, Louise was the daughter of Riley Burton and Flora Mae (Shirley) Dickson.
Louise portrayed great work ethics, having retired from Cummins, but also had worked at Regal Rugs, and owned and operated Granny Lou’s Creations. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Louise liked gardening, sewing, quilting, reading, and cooking. She enjoyed watching UK Basketball. Most of all Louise loved spending time with her beloved family.
Louise is survived by daughters, Sharon Croxton of Arlington, TX, and Cathie Martin of Scipio; sons, Mark (Sheila) Gibson of North Vernon, and Burt (Beverly) Gibson of North Vernon; sister, Nadine Shirley of Knob Lick, KY; brother, James Dickson of Rocky Mount, NC; grandchildren, Teresa Even of Lakeland, FL, Brady Schildknecht of Annapolis, MD, Rodney Martin of Greensburg, Ryan Martin of Columbus, GA, Jennifer Brodhacker of Indianapolis, Ashley Parker Bohn of Seymour, and Rylee Goins of Butlerville; great grandchildren, Nathan, Katie and David Even, Rhett, Kenlee, Ryker, and Klara Martin, Grace Brodhacker, Braxton Parker, Isla, Jake, and Scout Bohn, Gretchen and Ty Goins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Flora Dickson; brother, Walter Dickson; son in law, Harry Croxton; sister in laws, Ginny Dickson, and Nell Dickson; brother in law, Alton Shirley.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Bethel Baptist Church.
