Rosemary Ertel, 98, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:38 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the St. Vincent Jennings County Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in the parish center immediately following the burial. Everyone is invited.
Born on August 27, 1923, in Jennings County, Rosemary was the loving daughter of Bernard and Rose (Eder) Miller. She was united in marriage to Raymond Ertel. He preceded her in death.
Rosemary graduated from North Vernon High School and from the Good Samaritan Hospital Nursing School. She worked during her nursing career at the Muscatatuck State Hospital for 16 years. Rosemary enjoyed golf, playing cards, working puzzles, and music. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and her faith was the foundation of her life. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by sons, Chris (Patty) Ertel, Kevin Ertel, Bob (Judy) Ertel, Andy (Jennifer) Ertel all of North Vernon, and Paul (Deborah) Ertel of Seymour; daughters, Joanne Campbell, and Frances (Mike) Walker all of North Vernon; grandchildren, Travis (Kristin) Campbell, Troy (Leslie) Campbell, Jodi (Dan) Hill, Caitlin (Jacob) Shepard, Merritt (Kyle) Lewis, Connor (Tara) Ertel, Zachary (Rachael) Ertel, Megan (Seth) Jones, Eamonn (Sarah) Ertel, Camden Ertel, Merideth (Brad) Morin, Kathryn (Aaron) Booth, Nicholas (Haley) Ertel, Sarah Ertel, Logan Ertel, Rebecca (Jonah) McClellan, David Ertel, Kelly (Clinton) Vogel, Monica Ertel, Isaiah Ertel, Annie Ertel, Chelsea (Tom) McDaniel, and Cody (Chelsea) Walker; Thrity-three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Rose Miller; husband, Raymond Ertel; sister, Mary Louise Bertram, and Mabel Sherry; brothers, Don, Bob, Norman, and Glenn Miller; son in law, Harold “Soup” Campbell; grandchildren, Carrie, and Courtney Walker; great grandchild, Andrew Lee McClellan.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to St. Mary’s School or St. Vincent DePaul.
