Rollie Manley Jr., 88, of Columbus, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones.
There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.
Born on December 20, 1933, in Johnson County, Rollie was the loving son of Rollie and Hazel Pauline (Cummings) Manley Sr. He was united in marriage to Alice Jean Bassett on April 19, 1958. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2017.
Rollie served his country proudly in the Army from July 6, 1955 to May 3, 1957 rising to the rank of PFC. He then was in the Army Reserves from May 3, 1957 to June 30, 1963. Rollie had worked for Brand’s Lumber, Engleking Patterns, Cunningham Pattern, and Dunlap’s Lumber in the mill. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening in his spare time. He also enjoyed a good jig saw puzzle. Rollie was known for always lending a hand helping people. Most of all he cherished spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memories is his daughter, Gayle (Gene) Hopkins of Columbus; sons, Rahn (Tammy) Manley of Indianapolis, Chris (Tonya) Manley of Columbus; grandchildren, Joshua Michael Hopkins, Matthew Scott Hopkins, Kyle Manley, and Samantha Rose Ansara; five great grandchildren.
Rollie is preceded in death by his parents, Rollie and Hazel Manley Sr.; wife, Alice Manley; brothers, William Robert, Raymond Elza, and Lester Eugene Manley; sister, Elizabeth Pauline Manley.
