Robert E. "Bob" Kent

Robert E. Kent, 74, North Vernon, passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation. Rev. Tracy McIntyre will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home.

Born on January 21, 1948, in Bloomington, Bob was the loving son of Edward R. and Doris (Stevens) Kent. He was united in marriage to Mary Jo Matern. She survives.

Bob graduated from Unionville High School in 1966. He attended Indiana University and played basketball there for 2 years. Bob was a farmer. He loved IU Basketball. He was a member of the Crossroads Community Church. Most of all, Bob cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mary Jo of North Vernon, Bob is survived by sons, Rob (Taryn) Kent, and Baron (Andrea) Kent all of North Vernon; daughters, Carrie (Pete) Manowitz, and Kelly (David) Warren all of North Vernon; sisters, Mary Beth (Randy) Woods of Bloomington, Nancy Kent of Seymour; brother, Tom (Diana) Kent of North Vernon; brother in law, Bill Walden of Evansville; grandchildren, Keegan and Mallory Manowitz, Josh, Jada, Karma, Brookley, and Kassidy Warren, Addyson and Carter Kent, Aniston and Brody Kent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Doris Kent; sister, Bette Walden.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to H.O.P.E program through the Jennings County Schools or Harmon’s the Joy of Giving.
