Robert Doug Benham

Robert Douglas Benham, 61, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:05 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Ricky Persons will officiate. Burial will be in the Hayden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the funeral home.

Born on November 3, 1959, in Batesville, Robert was the loving son of Pete Benham and Evelyn (Morris) Kelser. He was united in marriage to Valerie Griffin on July 16, 2017. She survives.

Robert better known as Doug to all who loved him, worked at Aisin in Seymour. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, logging, and hunting. He liked horses especially going to horse pulls. Most of all Doug cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Valerie Benham of North Vernon, he is survived by sons, Jason (Laura Kreinhagen) Smith of North Vernon, Michael (Sherry) Smith of North Vernon, and Eric (Crystal Douglas) Smith of North Vernon; daughter, Larrisa Barker; grandchildren, Alexis, Sierra, Shyanna, Bryce, Brock, Ashlynn, Michaela, and Conner Smith, Honor Barker; great grandchildren, Braxton and Maddox Smith.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Benham and Evelyn Kelser; brother, Dennis Benham; sisters, Debbie Carter, and Rebecca Bradburn.
