Nikolaus Edward Schmaus

Nickolaus Edward Schmaus, 30, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:59 p.m., on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at St Vincent 86th Street Hospital in Indianapolis.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Dale Boyd will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.

Born April 7, 1993, in Columbus, Nikolaus was the loving son of William Schmaus and Laura (Manlief) Miller.

Nikolaus was a logger and had owned M&N Forestry Management. He enjoyed fishing, being in the woods, and any outdoor activities. He had previously lived in Montana for about a year and really loved it. More than anything, his greatest love was his daughter.

Nikolaus will be dearly missed by his mother, Laura Miller of North Vernon; daughter, Mallory Elizabeth Schmaus of North Vernon; sisters, Lori Ritchie (Kirk Geer) of Butlerville, and Candice (Joe) Davidson of Westport; step father, John Miller of Butlerville; step brother, Trenton Miller of Columbus; step sister, Sabrina Miller of North Vernon; grandparents, Alvin and Norma Manlief of Westport; uncle, Jared Robbins of Nashville; companion, Kelly Watkins of Butlerville.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Schmaus; grandparents, William and Alma Schmaus; uncle, Steven Manlief.
