Mary Nicholson Obituary

Mary Lee Nicholson, 85, of Clarksville, passed away at 10:08 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Hoosier Christian Village Facility in Brownstown.

There will be a celebration of life held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Stave Hollow Lake Shelter House East. Cremation has been chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on August 12, 1935, in Vigo County, Indiana, Mary was the loving daughter of Raymond Shelton and Daisy Fern Cheeley. She was united in marriage to Robert Rice in 1956. He preceded her in death in 1974. She was then united in marriage to James Nicholson in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Mary was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehova Witness in Clarksville. She enjoyed supporting animal organizations, mushroom hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors.

Mary is survived by children, Brent Elkins, Louis Elkins, Donald Elkins, Elizabeth (Michael) Rice Deaton, Jimmie Rice, and Robbie (Christina) Rice; step children, Kristy (Dwight) Cook, Connie (Elvin) Gray, Sue (Roger) Dean, Terry (Nancy) Nicholson, and Danny Nicholson; siblings, Laurel Ernst, Carolyn (Frank) Lindley, Marilyn Sons, Alice (Alvin) Elliott Smith, Sarah Elliott, Cora (Allen) Elliott Clidinst, Richard Elliott, and John (Lynne) Elliott; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Raymond Shelton and Daisy Elliott, she was preceded in death by husband, James Nicholson; sister, Doris Elliott Woods; brother, Sherman Elliott Jr.; son, Michael V. Rice; grandson, Jerimia Rice.
