Mara Graves, 93, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at her daughter’s home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Entombment will be in the Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service with the Rosary being held at 10:30 a.m.
Born on January 15, 1928, in San Minato, Italy, Mara was the loving daughter of Angiolo and Adorna (Borgiotti) Lupi. She was united in marriage to Harry Graves on October 17, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1997.
Mara had retired from Regal Rugs after 42 years in 1996. Then she worked at the Regal Outlet Store. Mara was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Business and Professional Women group. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, golden retrievers, sewing, and traveling.
Mara is survived by daughter, Mona Huckelberry of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jason Bowerly (Samantha Rains), and Brandon (Calli) Bowerly; step grandchildren, Chasity (Shawn) Gerkin, Courtney (Robin) Hatton, Steve (Kristina) Huckelberry, and Greg Huckelberry; great grandchildren, Peyton, Sidney and Laec Gerkin, Silas Hatton, Garrett and Anna Huckelberry, Owen, Jacob, and Codi-Jean Bowerly, Casey, Kendall, and Karly Rains.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Angiolo and Adorna Lupi; husband, Harry Graves; brother, Mario Lupi.
Memorial donations can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
