Katherine C. Whitaker

Katherine C. Whitaker, 73, of Butlerville, passed away at 8:43 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Joshua Haugen will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the funeral home.

Born on October 2, 1949, in Paris, Kentucky, Katherine was the loving daughter of Thomas Foster and Katherine (Orme) Rogers III. She was united in marriage to Robert Whitaker on August 1, 1968. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2010.

Katherine graduated from Bath County High School in Owingsville, KY, in 1967. She earned her certificate of completion from Ivy Tech for Medical Transcriptionist. Katherine began her 32-year career with Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in 1970 as a Rehab Therapy Assistant. In 2003 she went to work for the Jennings Health Care Center as an Activity Assistant, finally retiring in 2011. She was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. She also participated in the Foster Grandparent program at Brush Creek Elementary School. Katherine loved music, artwork, gardening, and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Robert L. Whitaker II of Butlerville; brother, Thomas Foster (Lorri) Rogers IV of Lexington, KY; granddaughter, Avery Nicole Whitaker; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Katherine was preceded in death her parents; husband; and granddaughter, Haley Whitaker.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue.
