Karen Jo Shaw

Karen Jo Shaw, 70, of North Vernon, died at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Vernon Baptist Church.  Rev. Steve Malone will officiate.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.  A Nursing Honor Guard Service will begin at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday evening.

Born October 1, 1948, in Seymour, Karen was the daughter of Irvin Dale and Barbara Laherty Losey.  She married Dave Shaw on December 20, 1972.  He survives.

Karen graduated from North Vernon High School in 1966 and later with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan.  She worked at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital for 40 years and retired as a Director of Clinical Operations in 2015.  Karen liked playing golf, reading, playing cards and bingo and enjoyed being with her grandchildren.  In her younger years, she played softball with the Ponderosa Playmakers.

In addition to her husband, Dave Shaw of North Vernon, survivors include daughters, Lisa Barlow of North Vernon and Rachael Shaw of Vernon; a son, Josh (Stephanie) Shaw of Vernon; a brother, Steve (Trish) Losey of Butlerville; sisters, Annie (Ben) Wehling of Florida and Amy Douglas of Westport; grandchildren, Caitlin (Brandon Kendall) Barlow, Nick, Alex and Joe Barlow, Mackenzie Deppe, Davey and Solly Shaw; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Barlow and Jaxon Kendall and several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Dale and Barbara Losey.
