Joseph Christopher Hanna

Joseph Christopher Hanna, 57, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Joe’s wishes were to not have a funeral or services, but to have a celebration of life where all could gather and share memories, stories, laughs, and good food. His celebration of life will be held at his home on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service were entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on January 13, 1966, in Seymour, Joe was the loving son of John R. Hanna and the late M. Rose Hanna.

Joe was a 1984 graduate from Jennings County High School. He attended Vincennes College where Joe studied Criminal Justice later finishing his associate degree while taking classes at Ivy Tech of Columbus.

Joe worked with his parents in their dried floral business “Hannah’s Herbs and Everlasting’s” for many years and enjoyed attending the craft shows. Joe’s artistic abilities could be seen in the arrangements he designed for sure. Besides crafting and working with flowers Joe’s other interests included traveling, boating, and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family most of all and would organize the gatherings at the Hanna farm. Joe was passionate about animals of every kind.

Survivors include Joe’s lifelong partner, Bill Losey of North Vernon; father, John R. Hanna of North Vernon; brothers, John D. Hanna of North Vernon, Tim (Darlene) Hanna of Tennessee, and Richard Hanna of Ormond Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews as well as a great niece and nephew.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, M. Rose Hanna, and his grandparents.
