John Thomas Collett

John Thomas Collett, 53, of Austin, passed away at 4:29 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Scott Memorial Health in Scottsburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Warren Lucas will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Born on July 14, 1969, in Columbus, John was the loving son of John and Linda (Speer) Collett. He was united in marriage to Laura Caffee. She survives.

John had drove a dump truck for many years, he was currently working at Valeo. He was saved and baptized at Burning Fork in Salyersville, Ky. John liked fishing, playing golf, traveling, and being outdoors. He was avid University of Kentucky fan and Cincinnati Bengals fan. Most of all John cherished spending time with his loving grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Laura Collett of Austin, survivors include daughter, Sheena (Jonathan) Shelton of Austin; son, Mark (Amanda) Collett of Seymour; brother, Leonard (Erin) Collett of Hayden; sister, Joni (Eddie) Mills of Celina, TN; grandchildren, Jayden, and Isiah Shelton, Gannon, Greyson, Gunner, and Gavyn Collett; host of nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Linda Collett; sister, Dawn Marie Collett.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the family for expenses.
