James F. Roberts

James Fredrick Roberts, 82, of Scipio passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at his home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Rev. Joshua Haugen will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.

Born in Jackson County on February 24, 1941, James was the son of Lee and Lucy Ault Roberts. He married Shiela Allfeis on September 1, 1962. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2015.

James graduated from Freetown High School in 1959. He retired from Cummins, Inc. where he worked as a specification analyst. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Sand Creek Conservation Club, and a life member of the NRA. He was an avid Indiana Hoosier and Green Bay Packer Fan, enjoyed coaching softball, and going out and visiting with friends.

James is survived by his daughter; Angela (Tony) Porter of Scipio; grandchildren, Ross Porter of Columbus and Ashley Porter of Westport; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Kayile, and Kash Porter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lucy Roberts; wife, Shiela Roberts; son, Gregory L. Roberts; brothers, Bob, Dean, and Dale Roberts.

Memorials may be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, or Our Hospice of Jennings County.
