Jack VanCleve Obituary

Jack R. VanCleve, 89, of Hayden, passed away at 12:30 AM on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Dan Corbin will officiate. Interment will be in Hayden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

Born on September 3, 1931, in Perry County, KY, Jack was the son of Roland and Athelena Ritchie VanCleve. He married Ada Spencer in October of 1951. She survives.

Jack retired from Cummins after 30 years. He attended Hayden Baptist Church. Jack enjoyed being outside, watching western movies, and collecting guns. Most of all, Jack cherished spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Ada VanCleve of North Vernon, survivors include son, Jack VanCleve Jr. of North Vernon; granddaughters, Jackie Johnson Miller, and SuAnn Dyer; great grandchildren, Jacob T. Miller, Monica Miller, Nickolas Johnson, and Adalynn Dyer; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Athelena VanCleve; daughter, Linda Johnson; grandson, Donald Johnson; two brothers; two sisters.   

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the Dementia Society of America.
