Iva L. Brand

Iva L. Brand, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Columbus Regional Hospital.

No services are planned at this time. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on September 1, 1943, in Arnett, West Virginia, Iva was the loving daughter of Ash and Wilma (Brown) Cook. She was united in marriage to Tommy Brand in February 1977. He preceded her in death in August 1992.

Iva worked as an assistant manager as a paint finisher. She was a member of the AMVets Ladies Auxiliary. Iva liked playing bingo, gardening, and watching Chicago Cubs baseball. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory is daughters, Karen Burgmeier, and Stacy Cathey both of North Vernon, and Sonya Smith of Cleveland; sisters, Wilma Galiczynski of Cleveland, OH, Kathy AL Paugh, and Sissy Halstead both of West Virginia, Ellen Ann Stover; brother, Bill Wills; grandchildren, Trenton and Brenton Ferguson, Rebecca McIntosh, Clinton Maschino, and Mylee Matern, Danny and Matt Smith; fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Phelps; sisters, Ann Daniel, Hazel Cook, Mary Whiting, Goldie Agosto, and Diane Pierce; brother, Bob Wills.

Memorial Donations can be made through the funeral home to the organization of the donor’s choice.
