Herbie Robbins Jr., 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Dale Boyd will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Madison, Indiana at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
Born on June 8, 1931, in Paoli, Herbie was the loving son of Herbie Sr. and Flora (Bates) Robbins. He was united in marriage to Mona Kay Sorrells on December 31, 1960. She survives.
Herbie retired after 28 years with Cummins, Inc. He enjoyed working on cars, going to Auctions and Flea Markets. Herbie had his pilot’s license and owned his own plane at one time. Most of all, Herbie cherished spending all his free time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mona Robbins of North Vernon, survivors include sons, Walter Scott (Judy) Willis of North Vernon, and Robert Shawn (Melody) Willis of North Vernon; Daughters, Angela Kay Stidham of North Vernon, and Denise Ann (Larry) Mozingo of North Vernon; grandchildren, Tonya (Tim) Hill of North Vernon, Christy Alcorn of Nonesuch, KY, Scotty (Keisha) Willis of Scipio, Bobby (Alivia) Willis of Scipio, Kyle (Crystal) Willis of North Vernon, Amanda (Russell) Huey of Butlerville, Sarah Willis (Ramon Becker) of Scipio, Jenny (Jake) Melton of Trafalgar, Andi (Matt) Davis of Madison, Jonah Stidham (Crystal Cooper) of North Vernon, Leann Stidham of North Vernon, Chris Robinson of North Vernon, Jon (Katie) Robinson of Indianapolis, Kristina (Ben) Mozingo – Fitzgerald of North Vernon, Shawna (Brandon) Kikendall of Franklin; thirty six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren.
Herbie was preceded in death by his parents, Herbie Sr. and Flora Robbins; son in law, Stanley Stidham; sisters, Margie Courtwright, and Lucille Tolbert; grandsons, Robin Mott, and Joshua Stidham.
