Helen L. Taylor, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2021, at home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Bob Ochs will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the funeral home.
Born on May 12, 1934, in Louisville, Kentucky, Helen was the loving daughter of Homer and Christine (Costello) Walt. She was united in marriage to Roy Taylor Jr. on March 8, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1998.
Helen had worked at the Jay C Store and drove a school bus for a period of time but retired from the US Postal Service after 27 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Jennings County Democrats, and the Moose Lodge. Helen enjoyed quilting, crafting, and going to races with Jim.
Helen is survived by son, Jim Taylor of North Vernon; daughter, Cindy Bonham of Florida; granddaughter, Lucynda Burton of Florida; great grandchildren, Patience, Serenity, and Austin.
She is preceded in death by parents, Homer and Christine Walt; husband, Roy Taylor; son, Donald Taylor; daughter, Debbie Taylor; elven brothers and sisters; grandson, Ben Burton.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue.
