Helen Fletcher, 87, of Commiskey, passed away at 8:13 AM on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 15th at Trinity Full Gospel Church in North Vernon with Reverends Robert Johnson and James Fletcher officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
Born February 27, 1934, in West Liberty, KY, Helen was the daughter of Green and Monnie Bailey McGuire. She married James Edward Fletcher Sr. on December 2, 1955, in Wilmington, IL. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2009, after 54 years of marriage. She retired from Regal Rugs after more than 30 years of employment.
Mrs. Fletcher enjoyed quilting, canning, cooking for family and friends, gardening and reading her Bible. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Christian. She faithfully served her Lord since giving her life to Him on March 23, 1957 and attended Trinity Full Gospel Church. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were her greatest joy.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Burton of Commiskey and Rebecca Shyanne (CJ) Reynolds of Scottsburg; three sons, Billy Joe (Sandra) Fletcher and James Fletcher Jr. of Commiskey and Steve (Delores) Fletcher of Flatrock; eight grandchildren, Billy Joe, Elaine, Rebecca, James Edward III, Kelly, Tonya, Stephanie, and James Stephen “JR”; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Turner of Franklin, Ohio; and one brother, Forest (Betty) McGuire of Tennessee.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Albert Taylor Burton Jr., seven brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Trinity Full Gospel Church.
