Helen Adcock Obituary

Helen Adcock, 86, of North Vernon, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of December 18, 2021.

There will be no services held at this time. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on September 25, 1935, outside of Charlestown, Indiana, Helen was the daughter of George and Bessie (Hostetler) Brison.  She was united in marriage to Harry J. Adcock on July 15, 1952.  Harry preceded her in death on June1, 1984.

Helen worked at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center from 1966 until her retirement in 1994.  She then worked part-time at CVS Pharmacy until returning to MSDC part-time as a switchboard operator.  Helen loved to sew and crochet always patching holes in the clothes of kids who tore them up or hemming this or that.  She also passed the time reading, often devouring several novels a week while listening to country music before bed or in the afternoon with a soap opera playing on the television in the background.  She always appreciated a good meal whether that was going out to eat with friends and family or cooking you your favorite dish on your birthday.  But Helen was most passionate about spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loving on her pooch Bella.

Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Georgiana and Kenneth Vest of North Vernon; son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Melanie Adcock of Butlerville; granddaughters, Melanie Petro of Butlerville and Wendy (Vernon) Cartwright of Vernon; grandson, Cole (Misty) Adcock of Butlerville; and great-grandchildren, Emmalee Adcock, Gracie Adcock, Mitchy Whitehouse, Amelyah Adcock, Josie Petro, Konnor Adcock, and Jacqueline Adcock all of Butlerville.

In addition to her husband Harry, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Anna Mae Lozier, brother Ernie Brison, sister Delores Pearson, and grandson Jaime Adcock.
