Hattie Marie James

Hattie Marie James, 94, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:39 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Hickory Creek at Greensburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Frank McGee will officiate. Burial will be held in the Butlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at the funeral home.

Born on October 22, 1928, in Betsey, Kentucky, Marie was the loving daughter of Theo and Ora (Black) Meadows. She was united in marriage to Jesse David James. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2018.

Marie retired from nursing, having worked in Home Health Care for many years. She was a member of the Christ Baptist Church. Marie enjoyed gardening in her spare time. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Most of all, Marie loved all the memories made with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Marie’s memory are sons, Calvin E. (Debbie) Einhaus of Franklin, and Trevor L. Einhaus of Sarasota, FL; stepson, Jimmie James of Elizabethtown; stepdaughter, Tamara Lee of Seymour; twenty-eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Ora Meadows; husband, Jesse David James; stepson, David Allen James; stepdaughter, Sandra Tillery.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
