Gerald W. Sarver, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, July 06, 2020, at the Majestic Care of North Vernon.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2020, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the start of the service on Friday, July 10, 2020, at the funeral home. Please be mindful of the 6 feet social distancing requirements and we also strongly suggest all attendees to wear a mask if possible.
Born March 16, 1931, in Axtell, KS. Gerald was the son of Wilbur and Irene (Westerhausen) Sarver. He was united in marriage to Mavis Rogers on October 22, 1955. She survives.
After high School, Gerald proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korea war. He attended the Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion in Seymour. Gerald enjoyed playing cornhole and horseshoes. He collected bells through the years. Gerald was most proud of being a Veteran.
In addition to his wife, Mavis Sarver of North Vernon, survivors include sons, Thomas Eugene (Diane) Sarver of Scipio, Dennis Gerald Sarver of Columbus, and Charles Wayne Sarver of North Vernon; daughters, Linda Diane Anthony (Mark New) of North Vernon, and Brenda (Randall) Marshall of Hayden; eight grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Irene Sarver; brothers, James and Harold Sarver; sister, Eleanor Duke.
