Frank J. Biehle, 94, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Funeral Services are private. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.
Born on May 14, 1926, in Vernon, he was the loving son of Valentine and Fayetta (Carney) Biehle. Frank was united in marriage to Anna Wissel on October 25, 1952 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2020.
Frank graduated from Vernon High School in 1944. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Frank went on to retire after 21 years from Cummins in 1983. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Frank was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Jennings County Farm Bureau Inc. since 1944. He served on the Jennings County Farm Bureau board for 19 years and was a Jennings County Community Foundation board member for 6 years. Frank enjoyed farming, antiques, politics, and was a community activist.
Frank is survived by sons, Donald (Anita) Biehle of North Vernon, and Mark (Barbara) Biehle of North Vernon; daughters, Cynthia (Charles “Rick”) Speer of North Vernon, and Debra (Steve) Hackman of Brownstown; brother, Ralph Biehle of North Vernon; sister, Deloris Sorg of Elizabeth, Inidana; grandchildren, Atina (Dan) Rozhon, Chad (Erica) Speer, Angie (Bryan) Jaquemai, Kirstie (John) Tiernan, Brian (Erin) Biehle, Kevin (Karen) Biehle, Charla (Ryan) Cummings, Cheyenne (John) Wischmeier, Megan (Evan) Sporleder, Hannah (Chris) Whipple, Dustin (Josie) Hackman, and Sophia (Curt) Nieman; twenty one great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Fayetta Biehle; son, Joseph Kevin Biehle; brother, Gene Biehle; sisters, Doris Biehle, Sally “Verge” Hill, Rosemary Morin, and Catherine Garbutt.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Frank Biehle Community Betterment Fund, St. Mary’s Tuition Assistance Fund through JCCF, or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
