Emma Dean “Sue” Horton, 88, of Seymour formerly of North Vernon, passed away at 5:33 a.m., on Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Michael Hogg will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
Born on February 5, 1935, in Paint Lick, Kentucky, Emma was the loving daughter of James and Anna (Mack) Fortner. She was united in marriage to Donald Guy Horton on February 5, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2009.
Emma retired from Cummins, Inc. where she worked as an administrative Assistant. She was of the Christian faith, and a faithful member of North Vernon Christian Church. Emma enjoyed cooking and together Don and Emma loved sharing their home and hospitality with family and church friends.
Left to cherish Emma’s memory is daughter, Debby (Dan) Hogg of Greensboro, NC; son, Gary Horton of Bloomington; granddaughters, Angela Hogg of Pretoria, South Africa, and Melissa Cholewa of Greensboro, NC; great grandchildren, Oliver Nuss, and Liam Cholewa; sisters, Ellen Moore, Phylis Blair, and Sandy Summerfield all of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna Fortner; husband, Donald Horton; and seven siblings.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
