Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Murphy, 68, of Butlerville, passed away at 3:07 p.m., on Monday, June 12, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Mitch Harrel will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service, on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the funeral home.
Born on March 16, 1955, in Madison. Libby was the loving daughter of Keith and Ann (Ackerman) Bishop. She was united in marriage to Patrick W. Murphy. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2005.
Libby retired from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, where she was a Rehab Therapist. She had also worked at the Madison State Hospital and more recently at the Perfect Day Cafe. Libby enjoyed flower gardening and traveling. She always lived life to the fullest and loved spending time with her grandkids.
Libby is survived by son, Alex (Heather) Murphy of Butlerville; daughters, Sara (Brent Cummings) Murphy of Dupont, and Meaghan (Leon) Speer of North Vernon; brothers, Billy (Erika) Bishop of Ogleville, and John Bishop of Seymour; sisters, Kate (Chris) Webster of North Vernon, and Theresa (Bill) Browning of North Vernon; sister in law, Mary Jane Bishop Ezzo of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jordyn, Logan, Jack, Henry, Abel, Keegan, and Dante; great grandchildren, Maklynn, and Grayson; partner, Richard Stevens of Butlerville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Anne Bishop; husband, Patrick Murphy; brother, Bo Bishop; sisters, Amy Bishop Ponsler, and Dee Dee Bishop.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County or the Special Olympics.
