Dennis Day Obituary

Dennis Wayne Day, 67, of North Vernon, passed away on March 19, 2023, at his home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Larry French will officiate. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremations are entrusted with the arrangement.

Born on May 1, 1955, in Seymour, Dennis was the loving son of Thomas and Betty (Earl) Day. He was united in marriage to Claudette Casey on June 1, 1984. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2015.

Dennis was an extraordinary man and father. He graduated from Jennings County High School in 1973. During his high school career he was a great tennis player, and won most valuable player award every year. In the early 1980’s he moved to Florida where he met his wife, Claudette Day. He owned and operated Dennis Day Painting INC. in Florida. He enjoyed gardening, watching his son play hockey, and was a conversational artist. Dennis enjoyed talking to everyone and anyone that would be kind enough to talk to him. He will forever be remembered by his infectious personality, and being the world’s greatest hockey dad to his son, Dennis.

He is survived by son, Dennis A. Day of Columbus, daughters, Jennifer Band of Tampa, Tracy Bolek of Florida, and Tammy Lanchenniig of Texarkana, TX. 

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Betty Day; wife, Claudette Day.

Memorials can be made to the funeral home for expenses.
