David J. Lane, 69, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:47 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Joe Wyatt will officiate. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021, and from 10:00 a.m. till the start of the service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Born on April 21, 1952, in Seymour, David was the loving son of David B. and Josephine (Bennett) Lane. He was united in marriage to Dee Dee Hendricks in January of 1971. She survives.
David graduated from Jennings County High school in 1970. He farmed for over fifty years. He also drove a bus for Jennings County Schools. David was a member of Clifty Creek Coon Hunters Club and served as a Jennings County Commissioner for eight years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and show cattle. Most of all David cherished spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Dee Dee Lane of North Vernon, survivors include daughter, Amy Lane Henderson of Westport; son, Trevor (Pamela) Lane of North Vernon; brother, Rick Lane of North Vernon; sister, Linda Pettit of Madison; grandchildren, Brendan and Cameron Henderson, Lauren, Victoria, and Emma Lane; great-grandchild, Coleson.
David was preceded in death by his parents, David B. and Josephine Lane; grandson, Connor Henderson.
