Dale E. Spieker, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:16 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, at home.
There will be a funeral service conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Frank McGee will officiate. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at the funeral home.
Born on April 4, 1947, in Indianapolis, Dale was the loving son of Egbert and Ruth (Phillips) Spieker. He was united in marriage to Glenlene Carter in August of 1968. She survives.
Dale graduated from Warren Central High School and went to Ivy Tech for 2 years. Dale had briefly worked for Penn Central Railroad before serving his country proudly in the Army from March 17, 1965 to March 17, 1969 rising to the ranks of Sgt. E-5. He loved to fish, but most of all Dale cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Glenlene Spieker of North Vernon, survivors include daughters, Theresa (Denny) Givens of North Vernon, Tammy (Raif) Vaden of Seymour, DavAnna (Glenn) Strickland of North Vernon, and Dessi (Preston) Fortner of North Vernon; sons, Michael Spieker of North Vernon, and Quincy Spieker of Holton; grandchildren, Denny Givens Jr., Kylee Givens, Alliyah Givens, Shalana Strickland, Reggie Strickland, Carter Strickland, Preston Fortner Jr., and Ashley Fortner; great grandchildren, Oakley Fortner, Novalie Fortner, and Elsie Fortner; brother, Daniel (Carol) Spieker of Kentucky.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Egbert and Ruth Spieker.
