Coy E. Blair

Coy E. Blair, 78, of Columbus, passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at his home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.

Born August 14, 1941, in Adair County, Kentucky, Coy was the son of Lester and Nedoma (Bolin) Blair. He was united in marriage on June 24, 1961 to Phyllis Fortner. She survives.

Coy worked for 6 years as a carpenter for Gatewood Brothers. He then retired in 2001 after 36 years from Arvins Gladstone Plant. Coy had a love for fishing, horse racing, and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed and took great pride in working in his yard.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis Blair of Columbus, survivors include daughters, Tammy (Jim) Losey and Tina (Bob) Ellis all of North Vernon; brother, Kenny Blair of North Vernon; sister, Vontris Kinsey of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Joe Hawkins of Sellersburg, Shelly Baker, Katie Hawkins, David Ellis, Kayla Zimmerman, Toyce Cord, and Nick Losey; 14 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

Coy was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Nedoma Blair; an infant daughter; sister, Janet Blair; brothers, Kermit and Travis Blair.
