Brian Scott Simmons

Brian Scott Simmons, 51, of Vernon, passed away unexpectedly at 10:50 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023, at home.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Larry French and Rev. Mitch Harrel will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Born on December 28, 1971, in Seymour, Brian was the loving son of Jerry and Theresa (Vogel) Simmons. They survive.

Brian graduated from Jennings County High School in 1990. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp. Brian had a passion for the outdoors. He loved reading and writing in his journals. He was very creative and made many knives, walking canes, and hatchets. Brian also loved to cook. He was very intellectual and loved to debate many topics with friends and family. One of his friends said someday he was going to get Brian on Jeopardy. He had an infectious smile and rosy cheeks that everyone loved.

In addition to his parents, Jerry and Theresa Simmons of Seymour, he is survived by sisters, Debi (Brad) McLaughlin, and Jennifer (Curtis) Johnson; nieces and nephews, Chloe and Olivia McLaughlin, Mason, Tyler, Alex, and Reagan Johnson; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Potters House, or St. Mary’s School.
