Betty Johnson

Betty Johnson, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:22 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020, at home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home until the time of the service on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

Born on March 25, 1931, in Jennings County, she was the loving daughter of Olin and Alta (Pierce) Armstrong. Betty was united in marriage to Donald Johnson on August 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2014.

After high school, Betty worked as a Med Tech for the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center until her retirement after 40 years of service. She loved cooking, gardening, and especially her pets and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by son, Kimmy Johnson of North Vernon; daughter, Karen (Sparky) Beeman of North Vernon; sister, Sue Collins of Vernon; brother, Max Armstrong of Vernon; grandchildren, Lisa Wools, Ryan, Angie, and Eddie Beeman; great grandchildren, Sydney McCammon, Korbin Conwell, Kendall Krise, Brayton Beeman, Morgan, Carson, and Keaton Wools; great great grandchild, Natalee McCammon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Alta Armstrong; husband, Donald Johnson; brother, Bill Armstrong.
