Barbara Proctor

Barbara Ann Proctor, 87, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Marvin Sweet will be officiating. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the start of the service on Saturday, February 29, 2020.

Born on January 26, 1933, in Jennings Co., Barbara was the daughter of Floyd and Sarah (Miles) Castetter. She was united in marriage to Russell Clarkson, whom preceded her in death. Later she was united in marriage to Thomas Proctor. He also preceded her in death.

Barbara was a homemaker throughout her life and was an avid gardener. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Barbara enjoyed being a part of the senior citizens sewing club, she was a 4-H leader, and a PTA President. She also was a Precinct Committeeman in the Sand Creek Township for the Democrat Party.

Barbara is survived by sons, Dennis (Rhonda) Clarkson of Whiteland, Thomas Clarkson of North Vernon, and Steve (Charlotte) Clarkson of Florida; daughter, Deanna Clarkson of Spokane, WA; step daughter, Nora (Jerry) Branam of North Vernon; brother, Bill Castetter of North Vernon; sisters, Carol Mercer of Florida, and Sally Owens of North Vernon; grandchildren, Michael Clarkson, Joseph Clarkson, Adam Clarkson, Zoe Catsiff, Amanda Spurgeon, and Rachel Clarkson; step grandchildren, Mandy (Bob) Pike, Marissa (Brad) Norris, and George (Nina) Specht; 6 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Sarah Castetter; her first husband, Russell Clarkson; her second husband, Thomas Proctor; brother, David Castetter.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the First United Methodist Church Funeral Dinner Fund.
