William G. "Bill" Viers Jr. 79, of North Vernon passed away at 4:35 PM Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born July 3, 1937, in Lawrence County, Bill was the son of William G. and Betty Cook Viers Sr. He married Sue Owen on February 17, 1960.

Bill served in the United States Army. He worked as a pipe fitter through the Local 440 Union for fifty years.

He was a NASCAR fan, and loved to watch Indiana University Basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Viers of North Vernon; daughter Leeanna (Randall) Rose of North Vernon; sister, Jeanie Davis of Wabash; grandchildren, Ronald Robbins, Shona Johnson, James Viers, Stevi Beeman, and Ethan Rose; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven B. Viers; sisters, Juanita Bates, Dorothy Quackenbush, Mildred Meadows, Margie Hannum, and Daisy Reynolds.
