Obituary

William "Bill" Franklin Davis, 87, of Commiskey passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 4, 1938, in Deputy, Indiana, to Luther and Zelma (Meece) Davis. He married Nettie Mae (Roe) Davis in July of 1960.

Bill dedicated his professional life to Arvin Industries, serving as a scheduling supervisor for 38 years. His commitment to service extended beyond his profession; he was deeply involved in his local church, Coffee Creek Baptist Church, where he served in various capacities since 1972. Throughout his years, he held the esteemed roles of trustee, Sunday school teacher, song leader, and deacon, imparting wisdom and nurturing the faith of many within the congregation.

In addition to his church duties, Bill was a passionate supporter of youth development and dedicated over twelve years as a Scout Master for the The Boy Scouts of America. His efforts earned him the distinguished Silver Beaver Award, a testament to his loyalty and dedication to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. He was also a proud member of The Gideons International and the National Rifle Association.

Bill's passions included gardening, where he found peace in tending to his plants, music, which brought joy to his life, and painting, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity.

He is survived by his sons, William (Debbie) Davis and Tony (Pam) Davis; grandchildren, Billy (Chelsey) Davis, Kristin Davis, Nathan (Rachel) Davis, Kyle Davis and Briar (Rachel) Davis, and three great-grandchildren.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Lisa Kay Davis.

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Bill Davis will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Vernon Cemetery. Reverend Dan Corbin will officiate. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.

Memorials may be made in Bill's memory to Our Hospice of Jennings County through the funeral home.

Bill will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
