William D. Barnes Sr., 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at home.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the ETC in North Vernon. Cremation was chosen. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on August 11, 1948, in Marion County, William was the loving son of William F. Barnes and Virginia (Forrester) Everhart. He was united in marriage to Cynthia Busha. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2012.

William served his Country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He had previously worked as a security guard. He loved his cats, enjoyed playing pool, being outdoors, and watching movies.

He is survived by sons, Richard Barnes of North Vernon, and William Donald Barnes Jr. of West Plains, MO; grandchildren, Brandon, Collen, Brynna, Bryce, and Willard Barnes, Ellen Marie Paige Barnes, Chasity, Katrina and Sara Sheperd; sister, Sue Smotherman of Mountain View, MO; brother, Clauda Michael Barnes of North Vernon.
