William Richard Board, Jr., 82, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Premier Healthcare in North Vernon.

Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service has been entrusted with his care.  Cremation is planned and a memorial service will take place at a later date.

Born August 14, 1934, in Canton, Indiana, William was the son of the late William and Anne Board, Sr.  He married Betty L. Wallace on September 7, 1957.  She survives.

William retired from JayC Grubb Company where he had worked for 30+ years.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  William worked with stained glass as well as woodworking and enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his wife, Betty, William is survived by one son, Michael (Juanita) Board of Salem; two daughters, Peggy (Steven) McCarter of Madison and Mary (Steven) Yount of Charleston; 11  grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anne Board, Sr., as well as one sister, Donna Crenshaw.
