Warren R. Alexander Sr., 73, of North Vernon passed away at 2:37 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his residence.
Born March 16, 1941, in Jennings County, Warren was the son of Raymond and Lucille Shinolt Alexander. He married Shirley O'Haver December 23, 1962.
He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. He became an Eagle Scout at the age of sixteen. He attended North Vernon High School, and graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne in 1961. He lettered in football all four years he was in high school. Warren retired from Cummins Inc. in 1993 after thirty-one and a half years of service. After retirement he went to work as a Pinkerton for five years. He loved fishing, boating, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Alexander of North Vernon; sons, Warren (Mary) Alexander Jr. of North Vernon, and Andrew (Debra Noone) Alexander of Huntington, MD; daughter, Susie (Wade) Burns of Montreat, NC; sister, Jean (Rich) Miller of North Vernon; brother, Bob (Karen) Alexander of North Vernon; ten grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Donald Alexander.
Memorials may be made through Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, or the Tempest Fund at the church.
Funeral Information
A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon. The Rev. Marvin Sweet will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at the church.
