Mrs. Wanda L. Tempest

December 19, 1922 - November 08, 2011

Wanda L. Tempest, 88, of North Vernon passed away at 8:10 P.M. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at St. Vincent - Jennings Hospital.
Born December 19, 1922 in Livingston County, IL, Wanda was the daughter of Jacob John and Margaret Ponsler Beck. She married Robert Tempest January 29, 1944. He preceded her in death.
Wanda was a member of Zion Baptist Church where she was involved in the Zion Mission Circle. She had taught Sunday School there for several years. She had been a part of the Three Corner extension of the Homemakers Club. Wanda had worked as a waitress in the past and was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, William (Dixie) Tempest and one daughter, Janice (Gary) Poole of North Vernon; four grandchildren, Brian (Stacey) Tempest of North Vernon, Brad (Melissa) Tempest of Columbus, Chad (Fran) Poole, of Kennesaw, GA, and Kasie (Larry) Biehle of Scipio, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers, Walter, Andrew, Albert, Raymond, Samuel, Lester, Marion, and Robert Beck, and two sisters, Margaret Williams and Helen Ash.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11 AM at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M and from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Vernon Cemetery.
