Mrs. Vera Ross Johnson

June 24, 1919 - September 23, 2012

Vera Ross Johnson, 93, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:07 pm on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Jennings Healthcare Center.

Born on June 24, 1919, Vera was the daughter of the late George and Gladys Millspaugh Donnell. She married Charles E. Ross on April 11, 1935. He passed away on February 14, 1983. She later married Paul D. Johnson on October 23, 1994. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2008.

Vera worked on the family dairy farm. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

Vera is survived by her son, Richard Lee (Mary) Ross of North Vernon; stepson, Mike Huffman; grandson, Ryan (Cara) Ross; granddaughter, Julie Ross; step grandsons, Tim and Dave Huffman; and great-grandsons, Pierce and Nicholas Ross.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Richard Burcham will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
