Tunis Thompson, 79, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021, at home.

There will be a celebration of life held from 3:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Victory Baptist Church located at 312 Myers St. Seymour Indiana 47274. Bob Davis will officiate. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on June 23, 1941, in Hazard, Kentucky, Tunis was the loving son of Willie and Mable (Deaton) Thompson.

Tunis served his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and watching UK basketball games with his brother Mike. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2021, Eagles Club, and Moose Lodge. Most of all, Tunis cherished spending time with his grandkids and family.

Tunis is survived by daughter, Shelly Thompson Bloom of Seymour; son, Jerry Davis of Austin; sister, Eliza (Bob) Davis of Seymour; brothers, Walter Thompson and Bobby Ray Thompson both of Austin, Johnny Thompson and Danny Thompson both of North Vernon, Lawrence Thompson of Canton, OH, and Mike Thompson of Seymour; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mable Thompson; sons, Terry and Larry Davis; brother, Elmer Thompson.
