Tonya M. Hensley, 54, of North Vernon passed away at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

There are no services planned. Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Born July 29, 1962 in Springfield, OH, Tonya was the daughter of James Albert and Wilma May Whitehead Pennywitt.

She retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. Tonya was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, collecting Barbie Dolls, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters, Holly (Mario) Ojeda and Heather Hensley of North Vernon; son, Shaun Hensley of North Vernon; brothers, James A.  Pennywitt Jr., and Robert Pennywitt of Springfield, OH., Mike Pennywitt of Arkansas; sisters, Robin Bragg of Paris Crossing, Penny (Max) Williams of North Vernon, and Brenda Spine of North Vernon; grandchildren, Adriana and Hayden Ojeda, Aubrie Leasure, Colton Hensley, and Shaun Hensley Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Deanna Robbins, and a brother, William Pennywitt.
