Mr. Tom W. Ellis

Tom W. Ellis, 75, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:46 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born February 25, 1940, in North Vernon, Tom was the son of the late Paul and Virginia (Buchanan) Ellis. He married Yuriko (Yasuda) Ellis on June 28, 1972. She survives.

Tom had retired as owner and operator of Burnham Van Service. He had served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Tom enjoyed watching "Law and Order", spending time with his dog, Wilson, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Yuriko, Tom is survived by four daughters, Sonya (Nathan) Lewis, Tonya (Duane) Ralston and Linda (Rolla) Millspaugh of North Vernon, and Deanna (Jerry) Costanzo of Glen Cove, NY; one son, John (Laura) Ellis of Evansville; one brother, Jim (Joy) Ellis of Greenwood, IN; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Virginia Ellis and one brother, Robert Ellis.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
