Thomas L. Byard, 64, of North Vernon passed away at 5:20 PM on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Community South Hospital.

A funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born July 2,1957 in Decatur County, Tom was the son of Paul "Bill" and Phyllis Nugent Byard.

He graduated from Jennings County High School in 1975. He retired from Arvins Gladstone Plant in 2009, after working twenty-five years. He was the chief shop steward for twenty years. He also had worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Regal Rugs, North Vernon Electric, Bode Electric, and Biehle Electric.

Tom was a past president of Local 1424 I.B.E.W. He was a member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge where he served as past Governor and received a Fellowship Degree in 1995. He was also a member and past president of the Eagles #4097, and past president of Jennings County Jaycees.

He is survived by brothers. Ralph and James Byard of North Vernon; sister, Dorothy Wilson of North Vernon; nephew, Marshall Wilson; three step nieces, Melissa, Angel, and Julie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
