October 15, 1945 – October 13, 2019
Theresa Ann (Matern) Lane, 73, of North Vernon, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 8:12 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in North Vernon. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service being conducted at 3:30 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services.
Born on October 15, 1945, at the Matern Family Farm near St. Anne in Jennings County. She was the third daughter of the late George and Lucy (Hupp) Matern. Theresa married Roger Lane on May 9, 1964 at the St. Anne Catholic Church, together they had 3 children Melissa, Tony, and Sara. Roger precedes her in death.
Theresa worked at Muscatatuck State Hospital and as a visiting nurse in Jennings County. Her favorite job was a housewife and mother where she always happily welcomed friends and family. She loved gardening, drinking coffee around her kitchen table, playing Euchre and phase 10, watching IU and Pacers basketball, and listening to music (especially the voice.) Family was most important to her. She loved spending time at the beach on family vacations, watching her grandkids play sports, sing in choir and musicals, and loving on her grand dogs.
She will be greatly missed by daughters, Melissa (Rick) Taylor, and Sara (Neil Lauderbaugh) Skinner; son, Tony (Tammy) Lane; sisters, Leona Schoettmer, Louise Schlatterer, Carol (Charles) Collins, and Barb (Mark) Biehle; brothers, Jerry (Donetta) Matern, Jim Matern, and Thomas (Jan) Matern; sister in-laws, Sandy (Russ) Mcaslan, Sally (Pete) Langtange, Kathy (Mike) Webb, Lisa (Phil) Buster, Lori (Bruce) Williams; brother in-law, Benny (Rita) Lane; grandchildren, Madelyn, Layne, Aliza, Samson, Emily, Lane, and Luke; nieces; nephews.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; sisters, Betty Lane, Pauline Greer; son in-law, Jeff Helm.
Memorials can be made through the Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Services to the St. Mary's School or the St. Vincent De Paul
