Born on June 23, 1949, in Moores Hill, Theodore, better known as Ted to all who loved him, was the loving son of Ora Westerman and Esther Webster Delay. Ted was united in marriage to Susan Helm on July 14, 1984. They shared 39 loving years together. She survives.

After graduating high school, Ted went on to serve his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ted began his career with Cummins Inc. where he held many positions over the years before retiring after 31 years of employment. He then worked for the Dave O'Mara Contractor Inc. for a period of time. But Ted's greatest enjoyment was being a reserve police officer with the North Vernon Police Department for 25 years. In his free time, he liked playing a good game of golf and bowling. Ted was very particular and liked order with a lot of things in life, one of which was his yard. He took great pride in making sure his yard was kept nice and neat. Ted loved spending time with his family, most importantly he cherished making memories with his adored grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Susan Westerman of North Vernon, survivors include daughter, Jill (Shannon) O'Neal of North Vernon; grandchildren, Adam, Alex, and Alana Leach all of North Vernon; sister, Fran (Huey) Campbell of Seymour; nieces, Michelle Clark of Columbus, Tracy Carter of Indianapolis, Jenny Smith of Commiskey, and Robin Gabbard of Seymour; nephew, Kelly Davis of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora Westerman and Ester Delay; stepfather, Jesse Delay; sister, Janet Burns.

Memorial donations can be made through the funeral home to the North Vernon Police Department.
