Steven D. Hardwick, 75, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Seymour Crossing.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service. Rev. Mark Sorels will officiate. Burial will be in the Hayden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
Born on December 21, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, Steven was the loving son of the late James and Pearl (Hammond) Hardwick. He was united in marriage to Paula Applegate. She preceded him in death.
Steven worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator out of the Local 103 Union for 20 years. He enjoyed two-cylinder John Deere Tractors, playing cards, farming, and hanging out with his friends at the local coffee shop.
Left the cherish Steven's memory is his son, Roger Hardwick of Frost Proof, FL; daughters, Tammy Swindall of North Vernon, and Tonya Pearson of North Vernon; sisters, Mary Hall of North Vernon, and Diane Engleking of Reddington, IN; brother, Dennis Hardwick of North Vernon; grandchildren, Rachel Johnston, Eddie Swindall III, Kevin Swindall, Samantha Barnes, and Joshua Updike; fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl Hardwick; wife, Paula Hardwick.
Memorial donations can be made through the funeral home to the Hayden Museum.
