Steven Wayne Boswell, 73, of North Vernon passed away at his home at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev's. Al Davisson and Tim Poer will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born November 7, 1949, in Seymour, Steve was the son of William and Patricia Ellis Boswell. He married Stacie Bowen on November 26, 1983.
Steve was born as a farmer. He also worked for Pepsi for a few years then went back into farming and bus driving. Later he started his own trucking company which he operated for several years.
Steve was avid race fan. In his early years Steve had a 1968 Camaro SS 396 that produced 375hp. He was well known for his drag racing abilities in his younger years as well as racing motocross. Steve had a love for Cumberland Lake and the enjoyment that it brought him. In the early 80's He was involved with a truck pulling team called "The Trouble Maker."
Steve became NASCAR fan in the 90's along with his wife Stacie. His good buddy Hank Byram and wife Michele traveled to many NASCAR races through the years including Steve and Hanks Florida racing trips.
His most heartfelt passion was watching the sprint car races, especially Rock Steady Racing with his favorite driver Kyle Cummins.
Steve is survived by his wife, Stacie Boswell of North Vernon; sons, Stevie (Mandi) Boswell and Jason (Angie Cusimano) of Butlerville; daughter, Brooke (Brad) Creech of Fort Meade, FL; aunts, Janice (Alvie)Patterson and Deloris (Paul) Fox; uncle, Tim (Janie)Ellis; grandchildren, Chase, Jaelyn, Reese, Bree, Jaxon, and Jonah Boswell, Kaelen Annabelle, Jacob, Jonah, and Judah Creech. Step grandchildren Alex and Andrew Wilds; sisters in law, Leslie Hall, Jamie (Walter) Pedigo, and Carla Marsh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Patricia Boswell; sister, Lisa Kipper.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
