Steven Eric Atkins, 60, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:01 a.m. on July 21, 2023, at the IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Frank McGee will officiate. Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service are entrusted with the arrangements.

Born on July 10, 1963, Steven was the loving son of Jessie and Nora (Vaulner) Atkins. He was united in marriage to Jerilyn Wilhite on September 21, 1987. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2021.

Steven enjoyed watching NASCAR. He would often send loved one's recipes, hoping they would cook for him. More than anything, Steven cherished spending time with his grandchildren.

Steven is survived by sons, Jessie (Emily) Atkins of North Vernon, and Paul Atkins of Florida; daughter, Jerilee Atkins of North Vernon; brother, Ben Atkins of Florida; sisters, Diane Atkins Tubbs of Arkansas, and Jana Ruano of Florida; ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Nora Atkins; wife, Jerilyn Atkins; brother, Jay Atkins; and sisters, Deborah Atkins Rodriguez and Celinda Atkins.

Memorials can be made through the funeral to the charity of the donor's choice.
