Shirley Byram Theriault Grayson, 99, passed away Saturday, August 10th, at 1:15 a.m., in Florida. Shirley was born July 28, 1925 in North Vernon, Indiana to Olive Smith Byram and Lester Nelson Byram.
She graduated from North Vernon High School and received a B.S. degree from Purdue University where she was a member of Delta Gamma. She worked for Rand McNally & Co. for 37 years, retiring as VP of Industrial Relations. During her working career she was active in the Skokie Valley Chamber of Commerce, Organization of Professional Women, and the Association of Illinois Employers. In Florida she belonged to the Boca Royale Country Club and the Englewood United Methodist Church, OES, and was an active member of the Delta Gamma Alumnae in the North Chicago, IL and Sarasota, FL areas. She was also active in The Park Forest Homeowners Assn., was a Score Counsellor and volunteered as a tax Preparer for AARP.
She was preceded in death by husbands Gene J. Theriault and Edward F. Grayson, brother Bob L. Byram, nephew Michael Dirk Byram, and great-great niece Morgan L. Wright.
Her surviving loving family: Sister-in-law Dora (Deanie) Byram. Nieces and nephews: Rebecca L. Worrell (Braden), North Vernon, IN; Shirley D. Deckard, Indianapolis, IN; Charles H. (Hank) Byram (Michele), Dupont, IN; and Leslie A. Lowman (Jerry), Scipio, IN. She is also survived by 9 dear great nieces and nephews, 18 dear great-great nieces and nephews and one dear great-great-great nephew. Shirley is also survived by stepdaughters, Linda Latona, Lakeland, FL and Denise Liley (Rick), Denver, CO.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Doan Chapel at the Englewood Methodist Church on Wednesday, 8/28, at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on October 5, 2024, at the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, IN. The Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood, FL. and Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon, IN. are entrusted with the arrangements.
