Sheila Marie Roane of North Vernon passed away surrounded by her family on December 17, 2025. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sheila was born on November 21, 1943, in Seymour Indiana. She was the daughter of Herman and Anna Margaret (Staublin) Kane.

On July 21, 1963, Sheila married the love of her life, James Ronald Roane. They went on to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary this year. Ron and Sheila had four beautiful children, six grandchildren, and two (soon to be three) great-grandchildren.

Sheila dedicated 18 years of her life to the education of children as a Teacher's Aide at Jennings County Schools. Her commitment to fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment left a lasting impact on the many students she served. In addition to her work in education, Sheila was an active member of Tea Creek Baptist Church and the Vernon Clionian Society. She enjoyed engaging with her community and contributing to local efforts.

Sheila's passions included gardening, playing cards, reading, square dancing, and thrift store shopping. These pursuits brought her immense joy. Each winter, she and Ron enjoyed their time in Florida, relishing the sunshine and the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family.

Sheila is survived by her devoted husband, Ron Roane; her daughters Rhonda (James) Bible, Angie (Tony) Galliher, and Nicki (Chad) Johnson; her son Scott (Jenise) Roane; her cherished grandchildren Jacob and Matthew Bible, Cory and Amber Galliher, Eli and Joshua Johnson; and her great grandchildren Emma and Shaylene Galliher. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Anna Margaret Kane.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Troy Green officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery.

Sheila's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be sorely missed, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Vincent De Paul Society.
